Health Guarantee and Replacement Warranty
To the best of our knowledge, this puppy is in good health and free from any contagious or infectious diseases at the time of sale. If you suspect your puppy is unwell, we strongly recommend visiting a licensed veterinarian immediately.
We provide a one-year replacement guarantee if any major organ failure occurs due to a genetic or congenital condition. This warranty also covers certain genetic or congenital bone conditions, including issues with hips and knees. If your puppy is diagnosed with luxating patellas, it must be grade 3 or higher, confirmed by X-rays performed by a certified orthopedic veterinarian. A notarized veterinary report must confirm that the condition is hereditary or prenatal, and not caused by external factors such as jumping or injury.
In the unfortunate event the puppy passes away due to such a condition, a full autopsy must be conducted, and the results sent to the seller’s veterinarian for review. Once verified, the buyer will receive a replacement puppy of equal or lesser value, selected from an upcoming litter.
This warranty will be void if the puppy has been abused, neglected, or if documentation is lacking for vaccinations, heartworm prevention, and regular fecal exams. At delivery, the puppy has received all necessary vaccinations and deworming, and the buyer has been notified. Additionally, the warranty is void if the puppy is not spayed or neutered by six months of age.
The warranty does not cover illnesses preventable by routine vaccinations, and the puppy must be examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of arrival, with proof provided to maintain the guarantee. Conditions such as coccidia, giardia, or kennel cough are excluded, as they are common in puppies—especially those that are transported. Although kennel cough is contagious, it is typically mild, self-limiting, and similar to a common cold, with full recovery expected.
Breed-specific traits often seen in Shih Tzus, such as cherry eye, stenotic nares, underbites, or inguinal and umbilical hernias, are not covered, as these are generally considered normal for the breed. Umbilical hernias, which affect up to 50% of Shih Tzus, typically resolve on their own by the time of spaying or neutering. If the hernia remains, it can be corrected during that procedure for an additional cost. Puppies with umbilical hernias are offered at a $50 discount.
We also provide a two-year health warranty covering serious, life-altering congenital or genetic conditions that result in the loss of your puppy. In such cases, we will either provide a replacement puppy of similar value or, at our discretion, issue a full refund of the purchase price.
We guarantee that your puppy will arrive healthy and free from contagious diseases such as parvo and distemper, but it is the buyer’s responsibility to maintain proper vaccinations. Even fully vaccinated dogs may inadvertently carry viruses from public spaces, which could infect your puppy if vaccinations are incomplete. Puppies lost to preventable communicable diseases are not eligible for replacement.
All puppies are sold with a spay/neuter agreement, meaning breeding rights are not included.
For full details, please refer to the official health guarantee and warranty contract, which is signed by both the breeder and the buyer at the time of sale.
